Well rested and ready to go!
On Tuesday we went to Hollywood Studios. I love this park for so many reasons - the shows are great, the grown-up rides are some of the best, and the characters here are the kids' all time favorites (Pixar and Disney Junior.) We decided to go straight to Toy Story Mania (which everyone will tell you to do because the line gets wayyyy long and they give out all the available Fast Passes by mid morning.) Here was Sam's face when we entered the Pixar area. I knew he would nearly pass out.
As it turned out, the ride was shut down for some reason. They were still giving out Fast Passes but since we didn't need one we just decided we'd walk around Pixar Place for a bit. Sam was in awe the entire time. He loved seeing Woody and Buzz through the window of the character greeting area (we didn't stand in line knowing he probably wouldn't get too close to them. We'd already seen Buzz anyway.)
Sam loved this entire area of the park and could have stayed in the Toy Story souvenir store all day.
When we finally got to ride Toy Story later that day, Sam kept begging to go back to "Andy's room."
After this we decided to go see The Little Mermaid show. The kids loved it. It's really cute; lasts about 17 minutes and they have great special effects. Then we rode The Great Movie Ride which was a nice break.
After this we headed to Pizza Planet for an early lunch. The kids loved Pizza Planet too; this was a counter service meal; each person got personal pan pizza, Caesar salad, a drink and dessert. And if you go to Pizza Planet, you MUST try the chocolate cappucino cupcake! It is out of this world good. We'd read about it online before the trip so we knew we wanted to give it a try. It did not disappoint.
Chad, Amanda and their kiddos met up with us at Pizza Planet and then we all went over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, followed by a few rounds on the grown-up rides - the Rock n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror - and had some fun while the kids rested in the strollers after their lunch. Sam did sneak into a couple of souvenir shops and thought Mickey needed to try on his glasses.
When we felt like we'd finally had enough free-falling and loud Aerosmith music, we went and got a spot for the Pixar Pals parade, one of my favorites.
The kids went wild when the Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. gang walked by. They even got some high fives, waves and kisses blown at them.
After dinner we walked back to the Pixar area and rode Toy Story Mania. Such a fun ride! Probably not as fun for the kids as it is for the grown-ups. I'd say the line is the best part for the kids.
Note: Definitely go straight to Toy Story first thing in the morning. I would get a Fast Pass and then go ahead and get in line. The line for this ride is built to look like Andy's Room, and everything is HUGE, making you feel like one of his toys. There is a huge Mr. Potato Head that talks and interacts with the crowd. However, if you only FastPass this ride, you miss half of this fun stuff and you don't even get to see Mr. Potato Head (I know, because we went in the Fast Pass line every time we rode it.) I always wished we could have gotten there first thing and been able to stand in the actual line before it got up to a 90 minute wait! The ride is a 3D ride where you shoot at targets in different carnival style games; so for little kids, the actual line is probably more entertaining than the ride; at least that's how it was for my kids.
After Toy Story we headed to the Beauty and the Beast show. Love love love this show.
The sun was setting as we finished the Beauty and the Beast show and it was time to head to Fantasmic! Finally!
Fantasmic is a must-see show in Hollywood Studios. There are parts that can be a wee bit scary for little ones but overall it is a happy show where Mickey and the 'good guys' prevail. A great way to end a great day!
At the end of the show you will see all of your favorite characters. Belle's dress was stunning and I'd never seen this one before. Yes I love Belle and Beauty and the Beast, if you haven't figured that out by now.
And that's the end of Day 4!
See all things Disney here.
