Here is Sambo's room before we made some changes...
First, last summer:
And then after Christmas we added the chevron rug:
My 'boy nursery' plans included adding red to the room to give it a new look:
And although we found out baby was going to be a girl, I decided to go there anyway and make a few changes by adding some RED wherever I could. I refuse to call this his "big boy room" because
a) he is still sleeping in a crib,
b) it makes me sad.
So I will call this his "Toddler Room." Thank you.
Ok, here's the AFTER picture:
I kept most of the black and white with the exception of the curtains.
I moved the black and white curtains down to the playroom and moved these Ikea bunting curtains to Sam's room. I actually saw a room on Pinterest that was the same color as Sam's and had these curtains hanging, and so that's what gave me the idea. And I love how it turned out.
Also added the tissue poms above his bed, and moved the red Ikea end table from the playroom to his room as well as a couple of the Ikea stools. So technically we've added red and yellow accents.
His changing area looks pretty much the same. I added a red lamp from Target.
The red shelves above the bed now hold some of his keepsakes.
They are the same shelves that are in the girls' room; unfinished wooden shelves from Hobby Lobby that I painted red with just acrylic paint and a foam brush. Super cheap, super easy.
(Love the football toy box - vintage! It was Chad's when he was a little boy.)
And his black shelf that I bought at consignment is now holding some of his toys; since he's walking and reaching now, we moved the keepsakes to the higher shelves and the ones over his bed and put his toys on this shelf instead.
We're starting our robot collection too! Thank you America's Thrift Store.
Ok that's all folks!
