Midweek post with some pictures (gasp!)

1. I got an early anniversary gift - a Kindle Touch. I love it. I've been looking at getting one for a while but just didn't know which one to get. There are so many different e-readers out there now. But I went with the Kindle Touch because I didn't really need anything fancy or anything with apps or internet. And I went with a black-and-white print (no backlight) so I can read outside. I was kinda skeptical about the whole 'digital book' thing, because I love to underline and highlight and go back and re-read, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how much I really do love it. It's small - fits in my purse. It can be easily held and 'worked' with one hand (which our iPad cannot). And I can lay on my side in the bed and read it. That may be the best part. Plus I'm usually reading at least a couple things at once and it's nice to be able to have them all with me and be able to flip back and forth. Oh, and you can still highlight, add notes, etc. (

Funny: My grandmother, who reads all the time, got a Kindle for Christmas, and my Grandaddy Ike said, "Never thought I'd see the day when you'd have to plug in a book." Me neither, Grandaddy! Ha!

2. Speaking of books and such, I'm currently reading "7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess" by Jen Hatmaker. I've seen it recommended on several blogs lately and a few of my friends are actually putting the challenge into practice. Let me just say: this book is SO STINKIN GOOD. And SO HILARIOUS. And SO refreshing. Jen's humor and her self-deprication and her honesty are so apparent in each chapter of this book. I feel like I'm listening to one of my best friends talk when I read it. I've actually been banned from reading this in our bed at night because I laugh out loud constantly. (And my husband is reading 'The Hunger Games' right now, and ya know, that's some SERIOUS stuff; I mean, heaven forbid Katniss be interrupted while she is trying to slay a rabbit and shoot down a trapper jacket hive at the same time. Puh. Lease.) Anyway, GET THE BOOK!

3. Here are a few things me and the kiddos have been up to...

Mary Ella had Pajama Day at school a couple weeks ago.

Sambo and I have been enjoying our Thursday mornings together, which usually consist of Kindermusik followed by lunch and a few errands. Sam loves Kindermusik and he especially loves when Miss Tasha reads "Shiny Dinah," a book about a shiny choo-choo train. He listens intently...

Here he is on one of our lunch dates at Zoe's. We've been able to enjoy a handful of lunches outside,
which is always nice.

We watched my sister-in-law coach the varsity girls team in the regional tournament.
Here is my sweet niece Gracie!

And Sambo pooped out during the second game, thanks to Uncle Buzz, the baby whisperer.

Random picture of the kiddos one Sunday after church.
(Someone asked me how I get my kids to smile. Bribery. Notice the cake pops from Starbucks.)

Sam has been enjoying the Monday morning garbage truck. He loves all the action.

And who can complain about the 60+ degree "winter" we've had? I won't.
We've enjoyed several days outside which has kept the cabin fever at bay.

At night we usually come downstairs and let the kiddos destroy the playroom.
Then I clean the playroom... like... maybe once a month. Cause there is really no point.

It never fails that after school Mary Ella is always "starrrrving."
So sometimes I let them share a Happy Meal as an afternoon snack. Cause we're healthy like that.
(And cause, um, I get my large Diet Coke and enjoy it the rest of the day.)

The kids have enjoyed rummaging through baby sister's things and the other night I discovered Mary Ella had opened a brand new box of Tommee Tippee bottles and they were feeding Moses (one of her dolls.) Sam loves getting out the bottles and pacis.
Even though he has no clue what a paci is, that little thumb sucker.

Yesterday we went to a park we'd never been to before and it's gonna be our go-to place from now on.
I'm loving seeing Sam brave the playground equipment. Won't be long until he's running after big sis.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
