Nothing much to report on the home front... so I'll update just to update.
Chad is gone all week to Dallas, Texas. That means we are eating sandwiches and pizza rolls and canned soup for all our lunches and dinners. Easy peasy.
Our microwave died. It is only 4 years old. It's actually been dead since the week before Christmas. I didn't think I could live without it, and I'll admit, not having the luxury of feeding my kids Easy Mac and warming leftovers has been a pain, but other than that we're making it ok.
I love my washer. It plays music when it's finished with a load. I think that's pretty funny. So far I haven't had to add any extra drying time (we still have our old dryer.) and I've been able to wash my king-size comforter, which is great.
Alabama won the championship! We watched it at home, just me and the kiddos. I got them all hyped up about it and then they both crashed at half time. Mary Ella made up a cheer: "M-A-R-Y Gooooo Bama!" Ha! Heard her yelling it from her room and I laughed.
Speaking of Mary Ella, I let her look through our wedding album this morning. As we were finishing up, she had a frown on her face and I asked her what was wrong. She said, "I'm sad because I didn't get to go to your wedding." Bless.
I went for my 26-week appointment yesterday and once again I have failed the one-hour glucose test. I told my doctor ahead of time that by now, they should just skip me straight to the 3-hour test. He laughed and told me to think positive, but I was right. The lab lady told me I was just border line so I have a good possibility of passing the 3-hour. Ha. I didn't mean to laugh but I did. Oh well, at least I know what to do. I only measured one week ahead yesterday which is good. I go back in 2 weeks for my 3-hour test and then 2 weeks later for my 30 week appointment and 4D ultrasound. So technically I'm going every 2 weeks from now until my 36 week appointment. Woo hoo! Getting closer!
Speaking of my doctor, he went to the Bama game in New Orleans. And he drove back afterwards, arriving in Birmingham at 6:15am and began seeing patients at 8:00 am. My appointment was at 9:30 and I knew he'd go to the game so I was surprised to see him walk into the room. I told him he was nuts. Especially because he does not drink caffeine at all. Like, ever. But he got him a coke and some Pop Tarts on the way to work yesterday so hopefully he made it through clinic and was able to get a nap that afternoon!
Mary Ella baked her first batch of Easy Bake Oven sugar cookies this morning. I was unaware of how messy all that Easy Bake stuff can get. She had fun though. That's all that matters. And it only took her 2.5 seconds to eat all 10 cookies, because they are about the size of junior mints.
I am working on my guest bedroom and bathroom. Aren't those the 2 rooms that come last on everyone's "ROOMS THAT MUST LOOK GREAT" list? They are definitely last on my list. My poor parents and house guests. But that's about to end. I'm about to make it cozy and cute, just for yall. You can thank me by making the bed when you leave. :)
My frand Wendy brought me 2 bins of clothes to look through yesterday for the kiddos. I bought my kids an entire spring & summer wardrobe. Emily Mann, I am coming to your house next. :) It is good to have friends whose kids are ahead of yours and who are willing to part with their adorable smocked/appliqued/name brand clothing. I love 'shopping' from bins at people's houses almost as I much as I love a good consignment sale. I also love a good smocked auction on FB and am probably about to be sent to Smockaholics Anonymous if I don't stop typing "SOLD" under every item that pops up on my feed. Ha! Can't beat the prices though, especially for stuff that is brand new. I bought 3 outfits a couple weeks ago for all 3 kids (for next year, late summer/early fall) and my total bill was $79. I know it sounds expensive for 3 things, but ONE of the outfits would have cost me $79 at a children's clothings store here in Birmingham. ONE. So that price was a steal for 3 outfits. Yes sir.
I am in desperate need of an Ikea run. Any takers? Any babysitters available?
Hope everyone is having a good week!
