Chad bought us tickets to Disney on Ice this year and we had such a great time.
Here are the kiddos before leaving for the show, in their Mickey and Minnie shirts. I found this applique idea on Pinterest, and decided to do them in some non-traditional Mickey colors (i.e. red and black) so I wouldn't have to make pants to match! They turned out pretty cute though.
Chad told us we had rink side seats but we had no idea we'd actually be on the front row until we got there! We were pleasantly surprised, to say the least, and we were definitely close to the action!
Sam is a HUGE Mickey Mouse fan. Most days he carries around a 3-inch figurine of Mickey all day long, only putting it down to eat or drink. So seeing his face when Mickey came out onto the ice was so sweet and priceless! He just kept pointing. I think he was shocked to see Mickey in person!
This year's show included scenes from The Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid. The only segment we weren't crazy about was the Lilo and Stitch part, probably only because we have not seen the movie (and by "we" I mean Chad and myself; I don't think Mary Ella has seen any of these movies besides The Little Mermaid, but the rest of the characters are advertised so much that she at least knows who they are.) Here's Tinkerbell...
The costumes were pretty neat, and I have to give props to anyone who can ice skate in this get-up! I don't think I could walk straight in some of these costumes, much less skate on ice!
Ursula was probably the scariest for the kids, especially when they came out with a HUGE Ursula towards the end of the segment.
Here are my kids' faces when the big Ursula came out:
Toward the end of the show we ended up just letting Mary Ella and Sam sit on the ground. You can see how close we were in these pictures below! About 5 feet from the rink's edge!
And you can also witness my children getting into a fight over a tupperware full of goldfish.
Thanks, Daddy, for a fun family night seeing some of our favorite characters! We love you!
