Our party was around lunch time, mainly due to Sam's nap schedule (I
Along with a heavenly tray of Chick Fil A nuggets, we served...
Veggies & ranch...
mini chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches (thank you, Edgar),
these sugar cookies that were supposed to somewhat resemble ducks,
as well as cucumber spread, spinach dip, and some chips and salsa.
I displayed his invitation for all to see. It's held up by a cheap and easy party decoration/table centerpiece that I posted about here.
Oh yeah, we also had CAKE! And cupcakes! And marshmallows.
I found the duck cake pan at Kids Market this year and knew it'd be perfect. It's a 3D ducky and it's sitting on just a square cake. The duck cupcake toppers I purchased on Etsy, I believe they were 12 for $3. The marshmallows were supposed to be bath bubbles.
I'll spare you a true close up of my ducky cake, as well as a full frontal of it's face, because I'm afraid it turned out quite scary. But in these pictures you can't tell, can you? :)
These mason jars were leftover from my sister's wedding, so I hung them from my light fixture, filled them with a little water + blue food coloring, and added a small rubber ducky. I purchased 2 6pks of rubber duckies at Hobby Lobby for $2.99.
We flooded the rest of the house with pictures and I used my piano as a favor stand.
Our favors were ducky sugar cookies wrapped up with marshmallows, and then in the middle are a few Ducky Pez I purchased at JoAnn on Easter candy clearance day. (By the way, if you ever plan on hosting a ducky party, it'll be relatively cheap if you shop the post-Easter sales. Ducks were EVERYWHERE! I bought the little ducky clips that are holding his sign up for 90% off at World Market.)
The banner is made of scrapbook paper and tied up with blue ribbon, all from Hobby Lobby. Ducky stuffed animal and ducky finger puppet book are from Auntie Sara and the rest of the stuff came from Sam's bedroom.
I made a small banner for his high chair.
Sam wasn't sure what to think about his cake!

Love these chubby fingers.
These are our friends! E, H, and Sam will all be the same age in school. And all of their daddies graduated high school together! So neat. Pretty boys.
Big sis happily obliged to open all of Sam's gifts and tell him what they were and how she would be happy to open them first and play with them first and keep them in her room for him. Of course.
Mom gave Sam and Mary Ella these matching smocked robot outfits! We LOVE them! They are especially sweet because Chad's job revolves totally around a surgical robot, so we love robots around here.
And this cute shirt too...
And Chad's momma bought Sam the softest most cuddliest little blanket at PB Kids! And she also found him this giraffe teether, which I'd seen on a ton of blogs but had never seen at any stores. Apparently you can get them at PB! It was one of his favorite presents. It also happens to be one of Lucy's favorite presents, since she loves a squeaker. She's dying to get her jaws around that giraffe's neck, so we're having to watch this one very carefully! I've already taken over a dozen pictures of Lucy just staring at this giraffe while Sam plays with it or while it's sitting up on the counter top! Those pictures deserve a post of their own!
Overall it was such a great day and we're so thankful for the friends and family that were able to come! (Especially the family from Florence for enduring crazy construction on 65 south and having to sit in 5 mph traffic for hours! It meant so much to us that you were able to come and that you had smiles on your faces and loved on our sweet Sambo!)
Happy Birthday Sam!
I am now officially the mother of a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old! Crazy!
