Well, I've officially made to "term" and everything is still going pretty good... aside from feeling HUGE and SWOLLEN due to NO air conditioning. (Yes, still no air conditioning. Maybe tomorrow. Sigh.)
I was able to see baby Sam again today on ultrasound and my amniotic fluid level has decreased, so that's good! He was pretty active today and did well for the NST too. I drank a Diet Mountain Dew beforehand in hopes that the caffeine would get him going, and it seemed to work. They didn't measure his growth or anything so I have no clue how big he is. We won't find out until he is born. I am measuring right on time and my weight stayed the same. I am still not dilated and my cervix hasn't thinned one bit - a good thing, for me. I only have one more appointment, one week from today, and then it's go-time!
I am having a few contractions every day, but nothing regular. I never really had contractions with Mary Ella so this is new for me. They are not painful, just uncomfortable. My stomach feels huge and tight and I feel like he's really grown over the past couple weeks, although there's no way to tell. I crave things I can't have, like Krispy Kreme donuts and chocolate milkshakes. And you better believe I'll be indulging those cravings as soon as he gets here. If anyone would like to volunteer to bring me either of those things on June 3rd or 4th, you are more than welcome. I will be at St. Vincent's on the 2nd floor.
I am pretty sure I have a nesting disorder, as I have been insanely particular about getting some things done around the house. Today we cleaned out the garage (againnn) and threw away some junk and organized. It was H.O.T. out there but even H.O.T.T.E.R. inside our house so we figured, "What the heck? Might as well be outside sweating our butts off." And we did. And tonight I decided I'd cook dinner. I made chicken parmesan (recipe below) and although it was good, it probably wasn't worth the sweat and the standing over the hot oven. But we ate outside on the deck and it was cool enough that we could enjoy our dinner. Mary Ella went to bed early and I think I'm about to head that way too.
Here is the chicken parmesan recipe I used (courtesty of a little Bisquick cookbook I picked up at the grocery store years ago):
4 chicken breasts, pounded to 1/2 inch thick
3/4 cup Bisquick
2 T. grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
3 T. olive oil
Italian cheese blend
Spaghetti sauce of your choice
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium heat.
In a pie pan or shallow dish, combine Bisquick, Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese. In another dish, stir the egg.
Dip the chicken breasts into the Bisquick mixture, then the egg, then the Bisquick mixture again.
Put the chicken breasts into the hot oil and cook 4-6 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
Cover and cook 8-10 minutes longer, turning once, until it is cooked through (the juices will run clear.)
Take the chicken out of the skillet and put on a plate.
Pour some spaghetti sauce into the skillet; heat for a minute or two, then add the chicken back in and sprinkle with cheese blend. Cover and let the cheese melt and let it simmer for about 5-6 minutes.
I serve this with PastaRoni, the fettucine alfredo flavor, and a salad. Yum Yum!
