Gifts, Gifts, and more GIFTS!

Well, Chad and I are recovering from a weekend of SHOWERS! Wedding showers, that is. On Saturday night we had our first BIG shower -- the Tool & Gadget. We were so blown away by the turn out. So many of our family and friends came out to show their love and support, and I heard so many encouraging words throughout the night. It really made this whole wedding thing seem real to me -- finally! I guess it takes a big group of people and some presents to make it feel like it's actually getting here!

And speaking of presents, we really racked up... Chad got TONS of giftcards from Home Depot and Lowe's, not to mention EVERY MAN TOY that you could possibly need, from drills to shop vacs, to shovels and paintbrushes! I got some of the stuff I had registered for too, mostly little kitchen gadgets. I think I ended up with about 5 ice cream scoops! The more the merrier! I did get some really nice cake pans, a caphalon griddle, and (drum roll please)... my RED KITCHENAID STAND-UP MIXER!!! I was especially thrilled about that gift. Mainly because I just baked my first real cake for our family super bowl party, and I loved the whole process. I definitely want to start baking more, and I didn't even have a hand mixer, so this is great! Jason and Keri Lynn (Chad's brother & sister in law) bought the mixer for us. I am too excited!

On Sunday I went to my first bridal tea, or shower, I guess. It was thrown by Mrs. Marilyn Traylor, who is a good friend of Debbie's (Chad's mom). Her house is BEAUTIFUL, and when I walked through the doors I was again blown away. There, in her dining room, was a long table with some of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen! It was beautiful! And what was even more beautiful was the number of faces there to celebrate my marriage! I was truly overwhelmed with how many women came out to encourage and uplift me before my big day. It was such a blessing. Before we ate cake, the ladies surrounded me and held hands and prayed over me. It was truly an amazing moment. My mom and I were both crying!
I racked up again at the bridal shower, bringing home 4 pieces of my china, and everything else you can think of... from mixing bowls to crockpots to ice cream makers to my Le Creuset dutch oven in bright red! (compliments of my mother-in-law!) She also bought me the red KitchenAid hand mixer, which I can't wait to use as well! I have so much STUFF! I love it! The afternoon was priceless. Everyone seemed to be so genuine and had a great time. I hope I get to spend more time with this group of women. It was such an encouraging day!

Well, that's all for now. I have 2 more showers next weekend! This time they are in Florence. I'm excited!

Wonderful Beginnings...

Like so many of our friends, we have decided to start journaling, or blogging, as it is called now, about our life together. I (Haley) am so excited about documenting our journey together. Hopefully we can continue doing this over the next few years and this can become a creative outlet for us to write about our new life together, our home, our travels, our children, and our walk with the Father.
I still can't believe the wedding is so close! It is only about 6 weeks away now, and it STILL hasn't completely hit me yet! I'm sure it will though. Everything is pretty much finished, as far as planning goes. I am now in what some would say is the MOST stressful part -- tying up all the loose ends and making sure everyone is on the same page! There is so much communication involved, and so many people are involved in our BIG DAY... which is wonderful! What a blessing from the Lord. We have so much encouragement from our family and our friends, and we truly couldn't ask for better people to surround ourselves with.
